Check out November's edition of "Issues to Watch" found at: 


"Issues to Watch" is a monthly column on current topics in the alcohol
policy field.  This edition discusses the Niagara Regions "Think and
Drive" campaign and highlights our December distance learning series
titled; Alcohol Policies: Reflections on Public Perceptions, Science and


In addition, the Alcohol Policy Network is pleased to offer a free
learning teleconference on this same topic. Norman Giesbrecht, a senior
scientist at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, will be
presenting on "Alcohol Policies: Reflections on Public Perceptions,
Science and Politics" This teleconference will take place on December
8th, 2009; 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. EST.


This presentation will:


*         Outline the damage and risks associated with alcohol

*         provide information on public perceptions of alcohol policies,
drawing on surveys off Ontario adults

*         hypothesize about the strength and type of contributions of
different forces that may influence alcohol policies 


The third part of the presentation will focus on what policies and
interventions have been shown to be effective in reducing risks and
damage from alcohol, and outline some action steps at the provincial and
local levels.
