**Local News * - Ontario's Chief Energy Conservation Officer Peter Love 
will present a Certificate of Recognition to Tembec today for its 
support in helping build a "Culture of Conservation in Ontario." 
Tembec's Spruce Falls papermaking operation in Kapuskasing was the first 
applicant when the Ontario Power Authority's Demand Response Program 
began accepting applications effective last summer.

The DRP allows large power consumers to be paid to not consume power 
during periods of high electricity demand. Within days of the DRP going 
operational, the value of this tool was demonstrated. O

n Aug. 1, when the highest (provincial) record for hourly electricity 
demand was set, DRP enrollees responded by reducing power usage by 182 
megawatts/hour, which was used elsewhere in the grid. Kapuskasing Mayor 
Alan Spacek, Terry Skiffington, vice-president and general Manager, 
Tembec Kapuskasing Operations and Jamie Lim, Ontario Forest Industries 
Association, president and CEO will accept the honour.
