Subject: David Hughes Energy Security and Climate Change Importance: High

 Mr. David Hughes of NRCan and the Canadian Geological Survey has graciously 
agreed to be available for both September 11th and 12th.

In order to maximize his presence we will be having a presentation in 
Toronto's Council Chamber as well as a panel discussion in a City Hall 
committee room.

We would like to partner with as many groups as possible.

 The presentation is on Tuesday, Sept. 11 from 7 to 9 pm in Council 
Chambers. It will feature David Hughes speaking to the issue of Energy 
Security locally and globally and the geological data which supports his 
call for the most rapid possible transition from fossil fuels to 
conservation and renewables.

This is of course exactly in line with the call being made by those 
scientists, activists and policy makers concerned with Global Warming.

 Mr. Hughes is in town on his way to a 'Scientists for Peace' workshop and 
outreach to policy makers session on Wassan Island. There he will present 
and work with fellow presenters David Suzuki, Bill Rees (eco footprint 
originator- UBC) and Joseph Tainter (author of Collapse of Complex 
Societies - 1988).
