Green$aver to conduct a demonstration of energy assessments for low 
income home retrofit program

635 St. Clarens Avenue, (southeast of Lansdowne and Dupont) Toronto

What:

Green$aver is conducting a series of energy efficiency assessments 
for low income homeowners - the program is designed to assist 
individuals and families who meet low income eligibility criteria or 
are enrolled in programs such as Ontario Works, Ontario Disability 
Support, etc., and are paying their own electrical or gas utility 
bills.  The people eligible for these energy efficiency upgrades 
often spend 11% of their annual income on heat and electricity, 
whereas an average household spends only 4%.

    * Funded by the Ontario Power Authority, Green$aver expects to 
conduct 270 similar tests and about two thirds will receive retrofits 
in Toronto.
    * Green$aver will be conducting a home energy assessment 
demonstration using tools such as blower door testing equipment - 
used to assess home air leakage - which is an important part of the 
prescription for making the home more energy efficient.
