Baywood Homes celebrates Oshawa's newest ENERGY STAR® qualified home

A community event showcasing Baywood's first
ENERGY STAR qualified home celebrated Baywood's
future commitment to energy efficient building practices

(Oshawa, Ontario, August 18, 2007) Baywood Homes
celebrated the latest in energy efficient housing
with a community celebration in Oshawa
today. Neighbours and people from the GTA toured
Baywood's three new model homes in the Ravines of
Greenhill, while enjoying great food, prizes and entertainment.

With this unveiling, Baywood is announcing they
will be offering ENERGY STAR qualification as an
optional upgrade in the 2nd Phase of the Ravines
of Greenhill. In Phase 3, all homes will be
issued EnerGuide performance rating as a
standard, with the option to upgrade to an ENERGY STAR qualified home.

ENERGY STAR qualified homes are more energy
efficient than homes built to the Ontario
Building Code. This is achieved through higher
quality construction, low-e argon windows; more
insulation; an energy-efficient furnace; a heat
recovery ventilator (HRV); and a programmable
thermostat, among other energy saving features.

Working together, these energy efficiency
features result in significant energy savings;
approximately 30% above homes built to minimum
building code requirements, with annual
electricity consumption dropping by approximately
1,000 kWh and greenhouse gas emissions falling by
as much as 3 tonnes per year.

"This has been a really fun day, and I think a
lot of people learned about the benefits of
energy efficient homes. These model units prove
that you don't have to sacrifice great design in
order to achieve superior energy efficiency,"
said Natascha Pieper, Director of Sales and Marketing for Baywood Homes.

Today's celebration showcased the Cathedral model
home. It is a 2,873 sq.ft, 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath,
ENERGY STAR qualified model, built on a 45' foot
lot, and has luxurious upgrades available through the Baywood Design Studio.

All Baywood homes in the Ravines of Greenhill
come with luxurious finishes including 9 foot
ceilings on the main floor, coffered ceilings (as
per plan) and natural oak finish pickets and railings on the main staircase.

"Baywood Homes has done an excellent job of
combining high energy efficiency with quality
architectural design and décor," said Corey
McBurney of EnerQuality. "They are to be
commended for their leaderships in quality and environmental responsibility."

The sales office is located at the corner of
Wilson Road and Greenhill Drive, north of Taunton
Road. For more information call Noreen Milo at

ENERGY STAR® for New Homes is a label given to
homes that meet balanced, whole-house
energy-efficiency standards, guaranteeing their
owners significant energy savings. New homes that
receive the ENERGY STAR label are approximately
30 percent more energy-efficient than those built
to the minimum Ontario building code standards.
The ENERGY STAR mark, used with permission, is
administered and promoted in Canada by Natural Resources Canada.
