I would have no objection to 50 acre farms, or even smaller, IF they were actually farms owned and cared for by their farmer/producer owners. The problem comes when the "farms" become estate lots, speculative holdings and/or just rented farmland which is not well maintained by the renter!!

Bruce County Drops Plan To Create 50 Acre Farms
An appeal by the province has forced Bruce county to dropped plans to allow 50 acre farms in its updated Official Plan.

But planning chair Charlie Bagnato says the issue is not dead.

The option has support from the farming community, and planning staff have been asked to research arguments in favour of re-instating what were original Crown Surveys for farms in the Hanover to Kincardine area.

The province appealed a recent attempt by Bruce county to allow 50-acre farms, saying they violate minimum farm size policy.
