Even though we are increasingly dependent on imports, interest in local food is growing. But what is the definition of "local"? In ancient times, the geographic reach of a city's market area was measured by the distance that could be traveled on horseback in a single day. Today, it is not uncommon for farmers delivering produce to the Ontario Food Terminal to drive from anywhere in the Golden Horseshoe. Edible Toronto is a new magazine that aims to connect consumers with local growers and producers, and others in the food supply chain. Join our panel to find out how entrepreneurs are responding to the challenge of meeting the demand for local food. Will this improve the farmer's bottom line? What would it take to transform the marketplace to make it financially feasible for food producers to choose to supply local food? Participants will also be able to sample the new magazine.
