Sustainable Future Day, April 2nd, Markham, ON:
$15,000 will be awarded to Ontario students with the best sustainable 
future ideas for our planet

Finalists from York Region District School Board, Seneca College, and 
Trent University

Meet the winners of the "Building a Sustainable Future" contest, an 
initiative of the cement and concrete industries to reward 
sustainable thinking. Up to $15,000 will be awarded to winning 
students with sustainable future ideas for our planet. View this 
year's submissions at http://sustainablecontest.cement.ca.

Several high profile government officials, corporate sector leaders 
and community group activists will be on hand for Building a 
Sustainable Future Day. Tony Genco, President and CEO of Downsview 
Park will speak to guests in the afternoon about living in 
sustainable communities.  Special guests (see itinerary below) will 
officiate and speak at the Awards Ceremony in the afternoon. Student 
trophies were designed by environmental sculptor, Dawna Robertson, 
from Kleinburg, Ontario, who will provide demonstrations of soapstone 
carving at the event.

Students and education professionals from York Region District School 
Board; Centre for the Built Environment at Seneca College; and 
Indigenous Environmental Studies at Trent University will discuss 
living in a sustainable world; and the Sustainability Pavilion will 
feature displays and demonstrations on sustainable development in a 
modern world.
