New Sustainable Strategies for Interior and Exterior Design
With Andrea Kantelberg and Lauren Gropper
Thursday November 15, 7:30pm
Toronto City Hall (100 Queen Street West at Bay Street)
Committee Room #1
Free
Sustainable design incorporates materials that leave minimal impact on the
environment.
Materials are selected based on the following components: local, durable,
repurposed, energy efficient, low emitting and sustainable manufacturing
practices. Join The Coalition for a Green Economy as we host an evening of
sustainable design with Andrea Kantelberg from Kantelberg Design and Lauren
Gropper from Tridel.
Andrea Kantelberg has been practicing design for 14 years. She successfully
blends her professional talents with eco-friendly approaches and she
continually seeks artistic and sustainable alternatives to the traditional
practices of the design industry. She believes that creating beautiful
environments simply cannot be achieved with products that harm the natural
environment.
Lauren Gropper is a LEED Accredited Professional currently working as a
sustainability consultant to the Tridel Group, advising on all company green
initiatives including the pursuit of LEED® Canada Certification for over 10
hi-rise residential communities and a LEED-Neighborhood Development Pilot
Project in the Toronto area. As a LEED®
Accredited Professional, she has consulted on 21 LEED® Registered projects
in North America as well as various residential and commercial buildings,
corporations, and homes in Los Angeles, Toronto and New York City, most
recently the Paul Frank Industries' Headquarters. Lauren is also the
co-host of HGTV's Green Force, a show
that performs green design makeovers to otherwise neglected urban
communities.
A presentation of the Coalition for a Green Economy, GrassrootsStore.com,
Green Enterprise Toronto, Sustainable Alternatives Consulting, Today’s
Environmental Solutions, York FES Business and Environment Program, the
Sierra Club of Canada, Ontario Chapter and Eneract.
