CONTRACT POSITION: Evaluation and Learning Manager

CONTRACT DURATION: 18 - month contract position

DEPARTMENT: Community Investment, Organizational Capacity Building Unit

 

BASIC FUNCTION: United Way of Greater Toronto (UWGT) has been providing
evaluation capacity building support to member agencies for several years.
We are presently seeking an Evaluation and Learning Manager who will build
on past outcome evaluation work and strengthen UWGT's capacity to promote a
culture of evaluative reflection and learning among both UWGT staff,
volunteers and member agencies. The Manager will provide leadership and
management for evaluation capacity building and various evaluation-related
activities.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

*         Supports the evaluation and learning needs of UWGT agencies,
including provision of training and coaching to build agencies' capacity in
outcome evaluation and performance measurement plans.

*         Recruits and trains volunteers to assist agencies to build their
evaluation and learning capacity.

*         Prepares background reports and briefing notes on results from
project evaluations, and assists United Way staff and agencies to interpret
and utilize evaluation finding for project improvement.

*         Assists in internal evaluation problem-solving initiatives and
external collaborative efforts with agencies, community organizations and
other funders.

*         Works with UWGT department teams to enhance internal evaluative
capacity.

*         Assists in disseminating evaluation results to UWGT partners,
including government agencies, foundations, agencies, and other
stakeholders.

*         Promotes a culture of evaluative reflection and learning among
member agencies and UWGT staff and volunteers.

*         Participates in internal UWGT's projects and teams

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

You are a high-energy, motivated, creative and results-driven individual
with:

*         Extensive knowledge and demonstrated expertise in research and
evaluation, outcome measurement, strategic planning, analyzing data, report
writing, consensus building, group facilitation and problem solving skills.

*         Demonstrated ability to design and implement organizational
capacity building and training activities.

*         3-5 years employment experience in the non-profit social
services/community sector in areas related to evaluation and learning.

*         Post-secondary education in a field related to evaluation or
equivalent experience in evaluation.

*         Demonstrated skill in a range of program monitoring and assessment
methodologies, including outcome measurement and quantitative and
qualitative research.

*         Strong strategic planning, time management, leadership, project
management and analytical skills.

*         Demonstrated experience in working with a wide range of diverse
people, including staff and volunteers of non-profit agencies.

*         An in-depth knowledge of the human services sector.

*         Excellent verbal and written communications skills as well as
training and group facilitation experience.

*         Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively in a team
environment.

*         Competent in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and web-based research
