Dear Tony and Stove/Fireplace Designers,
You do frustrate me, indeed! One of the prime advantages of having an air-tight stove or gas fireplace is that they would keep us warm, protected and fed during the next ice-storm WHEN THE ELECTRICITY IS OFF AGAIN!!!
And what do you do? You design this equipment to be dependent upon electrical energy for ignition or air circulation or fuel delivery or whatever.
Where is the logic in that? Designed by engineers not by people who will be stuck with them. Not to mention energy efficiency and "off-the-grid" independence!!??
Regards,
John

Hi John and other getsmart listserve participants,
this email is rather timely for me and a few people trying to ecape the nuclear grid the oil barrons and the gas thieves avec entangling monopolies and other assorted obvious complications with the permacultural procession of humankind
Please consider helping with the following conundrum we collectively face in mainiianing our GREEN 'revolution' / quiet turnover.
[ WE all don't like electrical, oil or gas] Whats left other than dangerous volatile Propane systems? area specific wind power and solar systems will not be sufficient since ( we live in a forested area in "the BIG WOOD') with winnie the pooh
!!!URGENTLY SEARCHING!!!
FOR Alternative heating systems for places which have intermitent power outages
Anyone have any suggestions.. I have a woodstove already but it will not keep the water system warm when I am away:(
I know of the geo thermal idea but the $20,000 price tag is prohibitive in price even with the $7,000 - $8,000 rebate from the "green" feds
any and all suggestions would be helpful and kindly considered.
Sincere thanks in advance for participating...We're all in this together
steven kaasgaard , looking for a safe warm way out of suburbia
