Its time to chow down on local food.

This is Local Cuisine week in Grey Bruce and the Grey Bruce Agriculture and Culinary Association has teamed up with 35 local restaurants to promote and serve local food on their menus.

Kim McPhedran is the Project Coordinator for the Association and says this is an excellent opportunity for local restaurant operators to  make their customers aware of the abundance of food available in the two counties.

She says they are very enthusiastic about putting this local food on their menus and being able to support local farmers.

In turn, McPhedran says the local farmers  are thrilled over the fact they are supplying food to these establishments.

She says the Association now has its website up and running and contains a list of more than 250 producers and where they are located and just what they are selling.

All of the restaurants in Grey Bruce serving local food also are listed on the website which is www.foodlinkgreybruce.com

McPhedran says this also is another opportunity to encourage tourism in the region as many visitors want to experience the local cuisine when they visit and get a so called taste of the local culture.
