First Annual "I GET T.O." Party to celebrate the Local Living Economy

Ticket sales revenue will cover the cost of the event (this is not a
fundraiser).

An evening with Torontophilic kindred spirits, a sultry spring
fever-inducing jazz quartet, guest speaker Katherine Govier, Morris Dance
performance to celebrate May Day, and fine food from the local-sustainable
Gladstone kitchen.

Local literary hero Katherine Govier will explore the spirit of place that
animates the many faces of Toronto. Katherine will read from Fables of
Brunswick Avenue, which has just been published in a new edition.

This event is one of many festivities celebrating Jane Jacobs' legacy. Mayor
David Miller has declared Jane's birthday, May 4, Jane Jacobs Day, which he
will announce at the launch of this year's Jane's Walk in East Scarborough.
The weekend of May 3 and 4 is Jane's Walk, a series of free neighbourhood
strolls that reinforce her idea of walkable, dense and diverse
neighbourhoods as the hallmarks of a healthy city.

Jane Jacobs' work is a cornerstone of the local living economy movement, and
GET is the local network of the Business Alliance for Local Living
