Environment Canada is now accepting proposals for funding under the
Environmental Damages Fund (EDF) until May 15th, 2008.  Environment Canada
administers the EDF which provides courts with an opportunity to direct
awards from environmental penalties and settlements to repair actual harm
done to the environment.  

Funding through the EDF is available for projects that address one or more
of EDF's priority areas of Restoration; Environmental Quality Improvement,
Research and Development; and Education and Awareness.  Organizations
eligible for funding include non-profit (e.g. community-based environmental
groups), Aboriginal communities and organizations, universities, provinces,
territories, and municipalities.  Visit the EDF website for further

Funding is available for projects to take place in Ontario: 

1) Project Location: Ontario wide, Funds Available: $24,000, Conditions
specified by the Courts: None 

2) Project Location: Ontario wide, Funds Available: $10,000, Conditions
specified by the Courts: None 

3) Project Location: Ontario wide, Funds Available: $5,000, Conditions
specified by the Courts: None 

Groups are able to apply to more than one funding award for a project. 

Deadline for funding applications is May 15th, 2008 

 

For more information on developing and submitting a funding application,
please refer to the EDF application guidelines, available at the following

inquiries can be directed to the Community Programs Office by phone at (416)
739-4734, toll free at 1-800-661-7785 or by email at edf-fde.on at ec.gc.ca.  

It is recommended that you contact the Community Programs Office to speak
directly with a Project Officer about your project idea.  Project Officers
will be available to review draft proposals until April 30, 2008.

Environnement Canada accepte jusqu’au 15 mai 2008 des propositions de
financement dans le cadre du Fonds pour dommages à l’environnement (FDE). Le
FDE, administré par  Environnement Canada, permet aux tribunaux de garantir
que l’argent des amendes et des règlements à l’amiable en matière
d’environnement ira aux réparations des dommages réels causés à
l’environnement. 

Des fonds sont offerts par l’intermédiaire du FDE aux projets qui traitent
d’au moins un domaine de priorité du FDE : Restauration; améliorations de la
qualité de l’environnement, recherche et développement; et éducation et
sensibilisation. Sont admissibles au financement du FDE, les organismes à
but non lucratif (p. ex. les groupes environnementaux communautaires), les
communautés et organismes autochtones, les universités, les gouvernements
provinciaux et territoriaux et les administrations municipales. Visitez le

Des fonds sont disponibles pour les projets qui prendront place à deux
emplacements : 
1) Emplacement de projet : Province d'Ontario , fonds offerts : 24 000 $,
conditions précisées par les tribunaux : Aucune 

2) Emplacement de projet : Province d'Ontario , fonds offerts : 10 000 $,
conditions précisées par les tribunaux : Aucune 

3) Emplacement de projet : Province d'Ontario , fonds offerts : 5 000 $,
conditions précisées par les tribunaux : Aucune 

C'est possible pour les groupes de soumettre une demande pour plus d'un
source de fonds disponibles 
Date limite pour les demandes de fonds : Le 15 mai 2008.

fonds, veuillez consulter le guide du demandeur du FDE, qui se trouvent sur

Vous pouvez adresser les demandes de renseignements supplémentaires au

On vous recommande de contacter le bureau des programmes communautaires pour
parler directement à un agent de projet en ce qui a trait à votre idée de
projet. Les agents de projet pourront examiner les ébauches de proposition
jusqu’au 30 avril 2008.
