And I'll put in a plug for the one I'm leading: the Blue Jay Village walk,
Saturday May 3 at 4 p.m..
I've teamed up with a friend and local resident in the condo district by the
Rogers Centre (the Sky Dome) to ask the challenging question, "can condos be
part of a village?"

Blue Jay Village Walk
Time: 4 p.m. Saturday May 3, 2008
Meeting Location: West of the Roger's Centre and Bremner Boulevard
Tour Guides: Mia Nielsen and Chris Winter
Neighbourhood: Blue Jay Village
Can condos be part of a village? We think so. Join us for a walk along
Bremner to Roundhouse Park, down to Queen's Quay and along to the Music
Garden. We will blend personal experiences and community-centred planning to
come up with ideas for creating the simple and small amidst the grandiose
and tall of the Harbourfront condos and Rogers Centre. Bring your ideas,
and bring your kids.
The tour will last around 60 minutes.
Mia Nielsen lives in a condo on Mariner Terrace, and Chris Winter is the
Chair of the Ontario Smart Growth Network. Their kids both attend the
Waterfront Montessori on the Toronto Island and both kids and parents are
adept at finding fun and free things to do.
