1. TCAT Annual General Meeting - February 21 & Steering Committee
expressions of interest by February 14
Below are the details of the Toronto Coalition for Active Transportation's
first Annual General Meeting.
Date: Thursday, February 21
Time: 7:00 pm
Location: Committee Room 3, City Hall, 100 Queen St. West
We hope that it will be possible for at least one person from each
supporting organization to attend. There are exciting developments to update
you on and new steering committee members to elect.
TCAT requires at least four new steering committee members committed to
active transportation who can dedicate time to advocate for TCAT's platform
and to build the organization. The steering committee meets approximately 1
time per month and committee members are active in between to ensure TCAT's
agenda moves forward. The time commitment is approximately 8 to 10 hours per
month for a one-year term. Four of the eight current steering committee
members have committed to serving another term.
Potential steering committee members should submit an expression of interest
by email to info at torontocat.ca no later than Thursday, February 14th. Please
include:
* Your name
* Phone number
* Affiliation (if applicable)
* A brief description of why you wish to join the steering committee
and the skills you can offer.
We hope to have identified individuals interested in sitting on the steering
committee in time for our AGM on Feb 21st, at which time we will present the
new steering committee to the coalition membership for approval.
If you would like to know more about what is involved in being on the
steering committee, please do not hesitate to contact us at
info at torontocat.ca or 416.392.0290

This past Monday, the City's
<http://www.toronto.ca/committees/budget-committee.htm> Budget Committee
released the 2008 staff-recommended operating budget. Councillors and the
public now have a week to review the budget and provide comments to the
committee before it makes its recommendations to
<http://www.toronto.ca/city_council/index.htm> City Council.
The date for public hearings (you can speak to the committee but cannot ask
questions of staff) is February 5th at City Hall (Committee Room 1 or the
Council Chamber).
To find information on the 2008 Operating Budget

TCAT will be spending the next week reviewing the budget and preparing our
recommendations, which we will share with our supporters.
We encourage you to make a public deputation to the committee in support of
an operating budget that prioritizes walking and cycling programs. To make a
