[getsmart-l] research for swales

Does anyone know where I can access research regarding the use of swales
(shallow ditches) for water run-off instead of paving to curbs to increase
water quality, quantity, and ability to tolerate severe storms. I'm aware of
cities in Western Canada reverting to this practice but not elsewhere.
