Jane,

Markham did a multi-year study which included a look at swales and all the other small watercourses. You might be able to find something in there.

Regards,
John

Christine Zimmer at Credit Valley Conservation Authority has been doing a lot of work on roads and storm water management. See http://www.creditvalleycons.com/.

Does anyone know where I can access research regarding the use of swales (shallow ditches) for water run-off instead of paving to curbs to increase water quality, quantity, and ability to tolerate severe storms. I'm aware of cities in Western Canada reverting to this practice but not elsewhere.
Thank you so much for your efforts,
    Jane
