Subject: Time is Running Out - Speak Now to Stop Sprawl in Kingston

 

Kingston's proposed Urban Boundary expansion puts Significant Woodlands at
risk to development, and opens the door to sprawl.   Developers lobbied to
extend the boundary despite population studies showing there is no need.
Citizens must oppose the urban boundary expansion or risk the forests being
paved over for development in the near future.
 
Areas at risk include woodlands in Mile Square Block near Collins Creek, the
St. Lawrence Community, and an area North of the 401 near Division Street.
 
YOUR HELP IS NEEDED AND TIME IS RUNNING OUT.  The deadline for public input
on Kingston's Official Plan is June 13, 2008. Write a letter to the city and
your local councillor. Tell them you oppose the urban boundary expansion and
want to see significant woodlands protected to maintain biodiversity and for
the sake of future generations.
