NEXT GREENTRANS MEETING
Monday, June 16 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. at Oakville Town Hall, Meeting
Room C, down the corridor to the left of the main entrance.
SUMMER FUN BUS DAY FOR KIDS
Volunteers needed to help with this event on Wednesday, July 9 from 9:00
a.m. to 12:00 noon in the parking lot at Sheridan College on Trafalgar Road.
Roles include assisting children with crafts, surveying parents, general
crowd control, playing the mascot Gus from the Bus, and set-up and
tear-down. Volunteer hours will be given to high school students. Set-up
starts at 8:00 a.m. Tear-down immediately after, with free pizza lunch for

METROLINX - MOBILITY WITHOUT BORDERS
An international symposium on transportation innovation is being held at the
Royal Ontario Museum on Monday, June 23 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. For

KERR STREET GRADE SEPARATION AT CNR TRACKS
A public information centre (PIC #1) is being held on Wednesday, June 18
from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Oakville Town Hall, Trafalgar Room. With
three new apartment buildings planned for Kerr & Speers, redevelopment of
the Speers Road corridor just west of there, and potential extension of
Shepherd Road to the west, there are a lot of intertwined issues involved.

NINTH LINE - UPPER MIDDLE ROAD TO DUNDAS STREET
PIC #1 is being held on Wednesday, June 18 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at
Oakville Town Hall, in one of the Committee Rooms. A Class Environmental
Assessment study is being undertaken, with consideration of widening the

THIRD LINE - REBECCA STREET TO LAKESHORE ROAD
A public meeting was held on May 29 for this stretch of road. The plan is
to add bicycle lanes and curbs, but not otherwise widen the roadway.

OAKVILLE TRANSIT SERVICE REVIEW
This is expected to come before Council in July. It includes implementation
phasing, staffing and fare recommendations and more. More info in next
GreenTrans update.
UPTOWN CORE TRANSIT FACILITY
Ribbon cutting ceremony Monday, June 23 at 10:00 a.m. The facility is at
Taunton & Oak Walk, behind the LCBO.
OAKVILLE TRANSIT COMMUNITY BUS SERVICE
This service, mainly for seniors, is being cancelled effective July 7, but
some specialized weekly charters will be tested in its place.
OAKVILLE TRANSIT ROUTE 32 - BURLOAK NORTH
This new service will run half-hourly Monday through Sunday, between
Hopedale Mall and the new RioCan Plaza at Burloak and the QEW. Service
starts Sunday, July 6.
OAKVILLE TRANSIT FARE INCREASES
Effective July 1, 2008: cash fare is increasing to $2.75; adult pass
increases to $80; adult tickets increase to 10 for $23.00; GO co-fare
increases to $.60.
ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION MASTER PLAN
The Town of Oakville is undertaking this study to address walking and
cycling infrastructure. It is expected that the first PIC will take place

OAKVILLE OFFICIAL PLAN
Public workshops in the next two weeks on Kerr Village (June 17), Bronte
Village (June 18), infill (June 19), Midtown Oakville (June 23), Uptown Core

NORTH OAKVILLE WEST SECONDARY PLAN
This is the area bounded by Dundas Street, 407, Sixteen Mile Creek, and
Tremaine Road. Public meeting on preferred land us plan, including
transportation system, on Monday, June 23 at 7:00 p.m. at Town Hall, Council
Chambers. This is the last opportunity for public input on this phase of
the plan before it becomes an official plan amendment. Documents at

STOP HIGHWAY 402 EXPANSION
A group from Sarnia is asking for help, via an online petition, to request a
bump-up to an environmental assessment for a project which will see
truck-only lanes added to the 402 in the Sarnia area. Their contention is
that year-over-year truck traffic is down and will continue to decrease.

WATERLOO BIKE SHARING PROGRAM
Grad students have won a $25,000 prize for proposing a bike sharing program
in Waterloo. It is expected that this plan will be brought to Regional

OAKVILLE WATERFRONT FESTIVAL
June 20-22. Free shuttle bus from Sheridan College, Oakville GO, and Bronte
GO to the festival. Regular fares will apply to all other Oakville Transit
service during the weekend. Zone Express will be replaced by regular
