We are pleased to announce the Public Speaker Series, three evenings of
presentation, debate and discussion on the future of Vaughan.
Join the discussion on the future of Vaughan
The Public Speaker Series is organized around the themes of Sustainability,
Quality of Life, and Vaughan as a 21st Century City. Three evening lectures
will introduce Vaughan citizens to these central elements of a successful
Growth Management Strategy. Each lecture will take place over two hours on
the evenings of April 10th, 24th, and May 6th. Panelists will make a 15-20
minute presentation on the session topic, followed by a question-and-answer
period.
Check the official project website (to be launched in late March) for
registration information. The Public Speaker Series will be followed by a
series of Community Vision Workshops planned for late May and early June of
2008. These workshops
will be held in the communities of Kleinburg, Woodbridge, Maple, Thornhill,
and the Vaughan Corporate Centre. The Public Speaker Series and Community
Vision workshops are the initial steps in the City's public consultation
process for its Growth Management Strategy. The Growth Management Strategy
will include an Environmental Master Plan expressing the City's commitment
to sustainable future, a new Offi cial
Plan to guide future planning and development decisions, and Master Plans
for community facilities, transportation and services.
