Show Your Support for a Comprehensive Green Energy Strategy:

The Select Committee on Alternative Fuel Sources released its final report
in June. Most comments we've heard (including our own) say its a great
report and we hope the recommendations will be acted upon with good speed.

Green energy and energy conservation are important first steps to tackling
smog and climate change. In the long run, they also promote energy
security, healthier communities, and economic efficiency. The Select
Committee's 141 recommendations are a solid foundation for a provincial
green energy strategy. If you haven't sent in a letter of support, please
do so.

Does Ontario Need A Smart Growth Network?
The provincial government has set up a Smart Growth Secretariat, and five
regional panels to advise on smart growth issues. The Conservation Council
has recommended that a Smart Growth Network should also be established to
help coordinate and support the involvement of non-governmental groups in
curbing urban sprawl and promoting compact, healthy communities in Ontario.

We've posted a survey on the Green Ontario website as an initial step in
gathering information on organizations that could contribute to an Ontario
Smart Growth Network.

See: www.greenontario.org/smartgrowth/ for the survey, and
www.greenontario.org/news/0206.html for the newsletter article.
