We're hosting a special meeting of environmental leaders to identify
obvious environmental solutions that should be implemented immediately,
showcase NGO projects and ideas, and identify ways to increase cooperation
and turn the obvious solutions into reality!

Deadline November 1st
Send us your best ideas! In advance of the Eco Summit, we are surveying up
to 200 organizations on their environmental activities and priorities. All
groups that submit a response will receive a free copy of our report, which
will be released at the Eco Summit.
CCO Annual Meeting and Call for Nominations

We're looking for new member organizations and individual members who can
lend their expertise and time to the cause of conservation. In particular,
we are looking for people who can help bridge the
conservation/environmental movement with other sectors of Ontario's society
and economy -- including culture, first nations, faith, communities, labour
and business. If you are interested, send a brief description to Chris
Winter, Executive Director, at cco at web.ca.

Environment Commissioner Calls for Provincial Biodiversity Strategy

Environment Commissioner Gord Miller's latest annual report points to a
looming crisis in ecosystem and resource management and calls on the the
Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) to develop a provincial biodiversity
strategy.

The excellent report of the Select Committee on Alternative Fuel Sources
(see www.greenontario.org/news/0206.html) has been handed over to Steve
Gilchrist, the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Energy, who will
consult with experts, consumer and environmental groups and market
participants in the electricity, gas and fuel sectors with a view to making
recommendations for a renewable portfolio standard for Ontario.
