No formal assessment for biosolids
Thursday, 24 August 2006

THE Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has decided not to formally
conduct a environmental impact assessment on the Water Corporation's trial
biosolids storage facility at Annadale Farm.
The EPA has decided not to subject the proposal to a formal environment
impact assessment unless appeals are received by August 28.

If appeals are lodged against the EPA's level of assessment, these will need
to be determined by the Minister for the Environment, before the Works
Approval can be progressed.

The Environmental Approvals process is expected to be finalised between
August - September 2006, while the Preliminaries to Works is expected to
take place between September - November 2006.

Tenders for the trial biosolids storage trial facility are expected to be
advertised in December 2006 and construction of the facility is planned to
start in February 2007.
