Sludgewatch Admin:

Since the EPA and the industry organizations like WEF and WERF have refused,
to date, to study deaths and adverse health effects from land applied
sludge,
we may be able to learn more of the toxic properties and dangers of sewage
from following occupational health and safety issues related to sludge and
sewage.

Shreveport worker dies after fall into wastewater container

SHREVEPORT, La. -- A city employee died after falling into an open
wastewater treatment container at a treatment plant Monday.
The man, whose name was not available Monday afternoon, was standing atop
the 15-foot-deep open air container preparing to clear foam from collecting
at the top with a high pressure hose.
He was working with another employee at the time, who went to turn on the
pressure hoses. When the employee returned, the deceased was no longer atop
the container.
Firefighters used polls to pull the man out of the biodegradable sewage and
sludge container.
The worker had no pulse at the time his body was recovered. He was
pronounced dead at 1:55 p.m.
The incident is under investigation by the city and other state and federal
authorities.
