Sludgewatch Admin:
Huh? Toronto has never managed to smear more than 10% of its sludge on
farmland.
So...in the middle of a rural sludge boycott we suddenly found some land to
smear sludge on?
One hundred percent of some of the stinkiest toilet tailings in North
America? What? Did Toronto buy a rural county? We are now smearing sludge
outside Ontario?

City escapes poop 'nail-biter'
By ROB GRANATSTEIN
Toronto has escaped the deep doo-doo.
The city had until Aug. 1 to stop shipping its 15 truckloads a day of
treated sewage sludge to Michigan, and has found a way out just in time.
"I know it's been a nail-biter but it looks like we'll be okay," Shelley
Carroll, chairman of the city's works committee, said yesterday.
For the rest of the summer the city's found enough takers to spread the 15
trucks of poop produced every day as fertilizer on land in Ontario and
beyond.
"We can do a couple of trucks here and there," Carroll said.
A longer-term solution will be announced soon, she said.
