Some people might be wondering how it is that Toronto got itself into
this sludge jackpot....15 trucks per day, 160,000 tonnes per year and in
47 days...no place for those trucks to drop off the sludge.

There is a farm sludge boycott on among Ontario farmers...and they
weren't liking sludge much before the boycott!

But the City's sludge policy was driven to bow down to the little band
of folks who live in the neighbourhood of Toronto's sewage treatment
plant. And they have driven the politicians silly by telling the
politicians sludge is good for farmers, and then by refusing to listen
to what farm communities had to say. Oh, and they forgot about winter,
too. No farming in winter...

Here is the Ashbridges Bay Neighbourhood Committee letter to Toronto
Works, telling the City how to manage the sludge now that there is a
sludge crisis looming in a few days.

Their answer....smear it on farmland! Gosh...forgot about the farm boycott.
But this gang never gave a hoot about what farmers think.
