Supes extend Oxnard deadline
The Bakersfield Californian | Tuesday, Jun 27 2006 3:46 PM

Kern County Supervisors today extended the deadline for the City of Oxnard
to remove tons of "fly" ash from the city's biosolids farm near Wasco.

Supervisors said Oxnard had made a serious effort to clean up more than
90,000 tons of the hazardous material by Tuesday's deadline. Only around 300
tons remain on the site.

A $3,000 a day penalty continues to accrue. The full amount, which has been
building up since April, will be waived if Oxnard completes the cleanup job
by July 10. By July 10, the fine will be nearly $300,000.

Supervisors also revoked trucking company USA Transport's permit to spread
biosolids on the Oxnard farm.
