BAKERSFIELD - Kern County voters will decide next month on Measure E, the
anti-sludge initiative authored by Shafter Sen. Dean Florez.
Florez's political action committee, Keep Kern Clean kicked off the final
leg of its anti-sludge effort Tuesday by opening a new campaign
headquarters, and launching a new animated campaign ad.
The ad encourages voters to vote for Measure E, which would make it illegal
to spread sewage sludge on farmland in Kern County.
Critics of land applying bio solids say it could pose a threat to our
groundwater and air quality.
The Yes on Measure E Committee will use its new headquarters to host phone
bank and direct mail activities as they prepare for voting on June 6.
