Do go to the website below and click on the little news video and watch the
interview with people whose home drinking water source is contaminated.
Their neighbourhood was indundated in a huge sewage spill in January, and
now municipal officials just can't seem to figure out what could be causing
the E.coli in their drinkingwater wells. Maybe it is animal feces....septic
systems?
Good golly ya gotta be brazen to pull this off. Viruses and bacteria
survive best in cool wet conditions. But watch officials try to tell these
folks...who have been told their home resale value is now zero...that they
have 'no idea' what could be the source of the Ecoli in their water.
Don't these officials need to be given the old 'Flying Fickle Finger of
Fate' award?

Wells Contaminated With E. Coli
Well E. Coli video

A harmful bacteria that contaminated some wells in Winnebago County is
showing up once again. The health department had reported an E. Coli problem
on Rice Avenue and Vinton Avenue was fixed in February. But many residents
wells still test positive for E. Coli and coliform bacteria. The problems
started in January when a sewer overflowed near the neighborhood. Many
residents haven't been able to use their water since.
The levels of E. Coli and coliform in the groundwater have dropped since
January according to the Winnebago County Health Department. But for the 20
wells on Rice Avenue and Vinton Avenue, there are still low levels the
bacteria. Health department employees say the cause could be anything from
septic tanks to animal feces. They're recommending that residents in the
effected neighborhood pay for city water.
