Threaten is an understatement, at this rate within 10 years all Florida
springs will be dangerous to swim in as are a growing number already unsafe.
Nitrates are ruining every spring in Florida, now, the regular nitrate
concentrations are 20 times higher today than they were just 35 years ago.
The decline of all springs in Florida indicates the Federal, State, and
Local Governments are not doing what is necessary to stop pollution.
"Supply Side Prevention" is of utmost importance, but we must STOP
pollutants from re-entering the system. Locations where hundreds of
thousands of pounds of nitrates flow into the aquifer system annually in
single locations in this area are totally unacceptable.
We can do better.
This article saddens my heart realizing most people never make the
connection that what goes down must come up.

What was once was like an airship ride over a brilliant emerald forest of
eelgrass. Now is like voyaging over a dark wheat field of eddying brown
mucus.
