Email correspondance to Jay Brenton
Department of Environment and Labour
Nova Scotia
May 26, 2006

Dear Jay Brenton

I understand that Dept of Environment and Labour consulted with the Canadian
Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) regarding risks from land application of
rendering plant sludge from plants that take BSE risk materials (specified
risk material).

I understand that there is a risk assessment related to land application of
these sludge wastes, and that your office has been provided at least part of
that risk assessment.

Rothsay Rendering of Truro is land applying sludges on farmland and cattle
pasture at Inglewood Farms, Lower Truro at very high application rates.

Since the Rothsay rendering plant wastes now being spread at Inglewood Farms
Nova Scotia may contain infectious prions, what documentation do you have to
demonstrate safety of these practices?

Please send me copies of any documents or correspondance you have on the
issue of BSE risks from this spreading of industrial wastes.
