Sludgewatch Admin:

Here is a little relief in the bully match unfolding between the sludgers
and the sludged.
Most of you know that Kern County residents voted overwhelmingly to stop all
sludge from being spread on county lands.

But the big cities of Los Angeles and Orange County are suing little Kern
County to force them to continue to take their sewer wastes.

On top of that affront, LA and Orange County lawyers wanted to get their
fees paid by Kern!
Judge said "no".

Halleluja.

KC owes L.A., OC nothing in sludge suit, judge rules

BAKERSFIELD - Kern County appears to have won the latest legal round in the
ongoing battle over sewage sludge.

U.S. District Judge Gary Feess in Los Angeles is refusing to make Kern
County pay $1 million to the City of Los Angeles and Orange County.

The judge said he is waiting for the U.S. Supreme Court to hear a similar
case over attorney fees in Florida.

L.A. and Orange County wants Kern County to pay their attorney fees for the
first round of court battles over Measure E.

Kern county voters approved Measure E in June, which would prohibit the
spreading of sewage sludge in the unincorporated areas of Kern County.
