Hmmm..no wonder Canada has more reports of BSE than the USA. I've long
suspected the US BSE situation is rather like sludge illnesses.
Gov't officials refuse to adequately investigate or test for illness...then
they report there is no illness!

Maricopa man admits defrauding government
Feb. 17, 2007 12:00 AM
A Maricopa man and his company have admitted defrauding the government of
$390,000 by delivering bogus specimens to U.S. Department of Agriculture
labs testing for mad-cow disease.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Phoenix, Roland Emerson Farabee,
55, president of Farm Fresh Meats Inc., pleaded guilty Wednesday to theft of
government funds, wire fraud and mail fraud.
Beginning in 2004, Farm Fresh Meats entered a government contract to collect
samples from "high-risk" animals, receiving $150 for each specimen submitted
to USDA laboratories. The contract required Farm Fresh to maintain the
cattle carcasses in cold storage until tests were completed.
Investigators discovered that Farm Fresh was submitting samples from healthy
cattle that were USDA-certified and failing to maintain the carcasses in
storage.
