Sludgewatch Admin:

Synagro has dismayed the residents of Kern County by forging ahead with
their plans
to build a huge sludge compost facility despite the 'Keep Kern Clean'
campaign. They got
a permit that said maximum storage time would be 7 days and then asked for
60 days storage.

Lets say the mood of the people and the regulators was not receptive......
According to today's story, Synagro has backed off their request. So where
will sludge be stored?
What unlucky community will get the stockpiled sludge ?

Syngro, the company opening a large sludge composting plant in Taft, has
dropped an effort to extend the compost stockpiling period from a week to 90
days.

The company drew fire recently when it asking to change rules so that it
could store composted sludge for 90 days rather than seven, as the existing
permit allowed.
