The link below will take you to the video "Treating Waste as Resource:
Opportunities for Canada", which shows how we in Canada can reduce pollution
and greenhouse gases by turning waste into a cost-effective resource. If
after viewing, you would like to receive a DVD disc of this video, please
contact us and we'd be happy to send you a copy.

When we address issues of sewage, municipal solid waste, air pollution and
climate change in isolation, we limit the scope and creativity of our
options. By integrating these issues, European municipalities are showing
how green energy can be derived from several waste streams at the same time,
and how waste-to-energy infrastructure can effectively treat sewage, extend
landfill life, and reduce inner-city air pollution and greenhouse gases.
Victoria has a unique opportunity to be a leader in treating sewage. New,
proven technologies can cost less to operate, require less space, use fewer
chemicals, and produce rather than consume energy. Sewage and sewage sludge
can provide biodiesel, biogas, minerals, and district heating.
When Victoria and other communities in BC run buses and whale-watching boats
on biofuels captured by closing the loop on our waste streams, we will
replace our environmental stigma with a reputation as an innovative,
sustainable province.
