Sludgewatch Admin:

Burning tires, Mad Cow risk wastes (animal meal, bone meal) , trash,
hazardous waste in cement kilns is a bad idea.

1. Cement kilns do not have air pollution emission controls.
2. Cement quality can be ruined by the contaminants in the wastes added to
the kiln
3. The cement kiln dust is often contaminated by the addition of these
wastes and then the contaminated kiln dust is offered to farmers, either for
direct farm application, or mixed with sewage sludge - like the N-Viro plant
of Halifax Nova Scotia...near this Brookfield Lafarge Cement kiln.

Brookfield Lafarge wants it both ways. They are eager for the tipping fee
to act as a waste incinerator for tires...and they don't care if they
compromise the air quality, the cement quality, and Halifax's new sewage
sludge/cement dust N-Viro 'fertilizer' to do it.

Oh, I nearly forgot to mention that even though the Lafarge Brookfield Nova
Scotia cement kiln dust is already contaminated with thallium and other
heavy metals from the burning of used oil ... they have been putting their
contaminated cement kiln dust directly in Nova Scotia salmon rivers and
claiming they are protecting the rivers from acid rain.
