Suffering from same loss of rights

Dear Editor:

An article in the Lehighton Times News, entitled "Citizens of East Brunswick
are made of tough stuff", has made it down to your sister-Commonwealth of
Virginia.

I want to compliment the signatories of the article, Annette Etchberger on
her articulate treatment of a situation that, I assure you all, is not
restricted to East Brunswick or Pennsylvania.

We in rural Virginia are suffering from the same loss of rights as a result
of the sewage sludge industry. In our case, the Washington Post, in the late
1990's, wrote a series on the history of how we became one of the "sewers"
of the nation the who, what, how, why, when and where they are now of those
who created this insidious stranglehold on citizens' rights.

If our fellow citizens in Pennsylvania have the ability to track campaign
contributions, you might wish to follow who is receiving large donations
from Texas. It's a true eye-opener.

And many of us in Virginia are also wondering "What has happened to our
Democracy?" Perhaps we can rediscover it together.
