Sludgewatch Admin:

Ok to make energy from these wastes...but what do you do with the residues?
They can be very high in drugs, chemicals, pathogens, and heavy metals.

If they are to be land applied under the Nutrient Management Act then very
very few contaminants are managed and there is very little government
oversight or regulation.

Looking for Bio Digester funding
Written by Jody Johnson

Chatsworth and Georgian Bluffs are on the search for funding for their
proposed bio-digestor project.
They have applied for 90 percent funding through the provincial Rural
Economic Development program.
Chatsworth mayor Howard Greig says they are looking for 2.25 million dollars
with both townships covering the other 10 percent of the costs.
Greig says the project is for anaerobic treatment of septage, biosolids and
corn stalks to produce biogas, hydro and treated biosolids.
Greig says Hydro One has already given approval to produce hydro from the
biodigestor and feed it into the grid.
Greig says the project is getting a lot of support from local farming and
municipal organizations including the Christian Farmers of Ontario, National
Farmers Union, Western Ontario Wardens' Caucus, and the Grey County Forest
Stewardship Network.
Greig says council will also be keeping an eye on the provincial government.
He says it will be beneficial if the new minister of agriculture and food is
again Leona Dombrowsky.
Greig says she already has a wealth of knowledge on the project.
