Dear Mr. Wallin:

As president of the company that has invested much effort and money in 
building a new plant at the Halifax Aerotech Park, we want you to be aware 
of a contract that the Government of Nova Scotia has awarded to Lafarge to 
burn 600,000 tires at the Brookfield Plant.  We understand that the source 
of cement kiln dust for your new plant is the Brookfield Cement Plant.  We 
want to make you aware to the impact of the burning of tires on the heavy 
metals in the cement kiln dust.

The following figures are based on a report submitted to RRFB (Resource 
Recovery Fund Board) by Global Tox based on the figures measured by 
Conestoga Rovers, the company that did the stack testing for Brookfield 
Lafarge.



Before we share the link for this information, the NS DOEL tested the Cement 
Kiln Dust from the Brookfield Cement Plant in February 2007.  The results of 
these test done by Maxxam Labs in Sackville are available from the Truro 
office of DOEL by Fax.  Some of the metals tested in the CKD as follows:
