Sludgewatch Admin:

My understanding is that San Diego and Los Angeles plan to snitch more and
more water out of the Salton Sea. This plan will leave the Imperial Valley
residents choking in airbourne lake bed particulates and salts, just like
Owen's Lake.

Stay tuned.

Toilet-To-Tap Issue Stirs City Hall Pot

September 13, 2007

SAN DIEGO -- San Diego's mayor is dismissing calls for using recycled
sewage water in the city.

Mayor Jerry Sanders held a news conference on Thursday in response to
City Attorney Mike Aguirre's recent public calls for using so-called
"toilet-to-tap" water.

"I think it's important for our citizens to know that the funds are not
there to implement toilet-to-tap," Sanders said. "I will not ask
taxpayers for that money."

Aguirre attended the media event to reiterate his stance.

"Right now the city is facing a water crisis , we have no real option
but to proceed with recycled water," Aguirre told the media. The water
supply, which is always a hot topic is parched California, is in the
spotlight now because of a recent court ruling that restricts the amount
of water San Diego will get from the San Joaquin Delta in Sacramento.
The region also gets water from the Colorado River, but that has
continually affected by a drought in recent years.

Sanders said he wanted the city to explore other options before focusing
on toilet-to-tap.
