TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
Great Canadian Theatre Company

GCTC, Ottawa’s oldest continuously-producing professional theatre, seeks a
Technical Director/  Head of Audio for its 2002-03 Season.  The Technical
Director ensures the smooth operations of the technical aspects of all
productions mounted or presented by GCTC.  These include a six-show
mainstage season, two presentations of touring shows, our Acoustic Waves
Sunday-night series of eight or more concerts, as well as rentals of GCTC’s
220-seat ‘black box’ space by community or other professional theatre
groups.  This position will commence mid-August, 2002, for a ten-month
period.

QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of two years experience in a comparable professional technical
directing position or equivalent.  A strong working knowledge of sound
systems, recording and digital editing, and playback, with a good working
knowledge of carpentry, lighting, electrical systems and special effects.  A
strong understanding of the creative process of the theatre as it applies to
technical aspects of professional production.  Ability to communicate with
and supervise lighting and sound technicians effectively.

The Technical Director is supervised by the Production Manager, and is
expected to work in close collaboration with the Artistic and Managing
Directors.
