"A BROADWAY VALENTINE"
A Fundraising Concert for Theatre Cares Vancouver

Sunday, February 10, 2002, at 8:00 pm at the Arts Club Theare.

THEATRE CARES VANCOUVER proudly announces a special fundraising concert and
Silent Auction to cap off Theatre Cares Week 2002. A Broadway Valentine
takes place Sunday, February 10, 2002, at 8:00 pm on the Arts Club Theatre’s
Granville Island Stage. Tickets are $50 and are available through the Arts
Club Box Office at 604-687-1644.

A Broadway Valentine will be a celebration of song from the last one hundred
years of musical theatre, and will feature some of Vancouver's finest
musical talent. Classics from the Broadway canon will be performed by some
of Vancouver’s favorite balladeers and belters, such as David Adams, Betty,
Grace Chen, Jeff Hyslop, Peter Jorgensen, Karin Konoval, Jennifer Lyon,
Shawn Macdonald, Ken MacDonald, David Marr, Stephen E. Miller, Ruth Nichol,
Morris Panych, John Payne, Ann Warn Pegg, Tom Pickett, Denis Simpson, Diane
Stapley, Cailin Stadnyk, Debbie Timmus, Sanders Whiting, Colleen Winton,
Katey Wright and many more.

The Silent Auction will feature original artwork by local artists, hotel and
spa packages, tickets to cultural events, restaurant certificates, yoga
centre passes, books, magazine subscriptions, a private improv show by local
comedians Gary Jones, Ellie Harvey & Richard Side, as well as many other
services and delights.
**Payment for auction items by cheque or cash only please.**

Since the inception of Theatre Cares in the early 1990s, tens of thousands
of dollars have been raised. Proceeds from both A Broadway Valentine ticket
sales and the Silent Auction, which will be held in the lobby during and
after the show, will be divided equally among three charities: The Actors
Fund of Canada, local HIV/AIDS relief, and the Coast Foundation.

While the Actors Fund of Canada and local HIV/AIDS relief continue to be a
focus of Theatre Cares’ fundraising efforts, the decision was made by the co
mmittee in 2001 to expand our mandate to choose a new charity every year in
order to respond to the changing needs of our communities, both locally and
globally. This year, the Coast Foundation has been selected. The Coast
Foundation is a co-operative community that fosters an environment that
promotes restoring health, personal growth and a return into society for
consumers of Mental Health Services through advocacy and direct service.
The Actors' Fund of Canada has helped thousands of performers and other
entertainment industry professionals to get back on their feet after a major
setback; and both BC Persons with AIDS (BCPWA) and AIDS Vancouver offer
support to those living with HIV/AIDS as well as to their friends and
families.
