THEATRE POSITION

Sir Wilfred Grenfell College is a small (1100 students) Liberal Arts and
Science institution and a campus of Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Memorial is the largest university in Atlantic Canada and, as the Province's
only university, plays an integral role in the educational and cultural life
of Newfoundland and Labrador through offering diverse graduate and
undergraduate programmes to almost 16,000 students.  At Sir Wilfred Grenfell
College, our emphasis is on a small-class environment and teaching
excellence in distinctive multi- and interdisciplinary degree programmes
with four-year Bachelor's degrees in Arts (English, environmental studies,
historical studies, humanities, psychology, and social/cultural studies),
Fine Arts (theatre and visual arts), Science (environmental science), and

Grenfell College is located in the City of Corner Brook on Newfoundland's
West Coast.  Corner Brook (population 22,000) is a safe and friendly city
with excellent recreational and cultural facilities, situated in an area of
great natural beauty, overlooking the Bay of Islands and affording a
spectacular view of the Blomidon Mountains.  The City is some 80 kilometers
from Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and 10
kilometers from Marble Mountain, one of Eastern Canada's premier downhill
ski resorts.

The College seeks applications for the following probationary (tenure track)
position.

Division of Fine Arts

Theatre: A probationary (tenure-track) position to teach Acting over four
years of a bachelor of Fine Arts (Theatre) Program. The candidate should
have significant experience as a professional actor and/or director and be
prepared to direct departmental productions. The ability to teach in other
areas of the Program such as Theatre History, Criticism, Voice or Movement
would be an asset. Teaching experience at the University or College level is
desirable.  An MFA or equivalent is required. Appointment starts July 1,
2002.

Salary and rank will reflect qualifications and experience in accordance
with the Collective Agreement governing faculty at Memorial University of
Newfoundland.  This position is subject to budgetary approval. A letter
