Nominations are welcome for The Elinore & Lou Siminovitch Prize in Theatre,
which honours playwrights in mid-career who, through a body of work, have
made a significant contribution to theatre in Canada.

The $100,000 prize, awarded annually by a jury of distinguished members of
the Canadian theatre community, is designed to showcase and reward
excellence and to inspire further exploration in Canadian theatre.
Playwrights will be honoured in 2002.

The honoured artist will designate $25,000 of the prize amount to a protege
of his or her choice in Canadian theatre, or to an institution that
contributes to Canadian theatre.

The deadline for nominating playwrights is May 31, 2002.
