A Pay-What-You-Can Public Dress Rehearsal has been added to the 30th
anniversary "The Collected Works of Billy the Kid" program on Sunday,
November 17!  The Dress Rehearsal will take place at CanStage's Berkeley
Street Theatre on November 17 at 2p.m.

This special and unique opportunity is available only to working arts
professionals and students (suitable I.D. required).  Tickets can be

CanStage presents a reading of

The Collected Works of Billy The Kid
By Michael Ondaatje

Starring Cast Members from the celebrated
1974 Toronto Free Theatre Production

A benefit for the Actors' Fund of Canada, the reading will star Arnie
Achtman (Charlie Bowdre), David Bolt (Pat Garrett), Chapelle Jaffe
(Sallie Chisum), Nick Mancuso (Billy Bonney), Saul Rubinek (Dave
Rudebaugh), Wendy Thatcher (Angela Dickinson), R. H. Thomson (Tom
O'Folliard), William Webster (John Chisum), Des McAnuff (Composer) and
will be directed by Martin Kinch. Members of the original creative team
will also be in attendance including Michael Ondaatje.

Her Excellency, the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, C.C., C.M.M.,
C.O.M., C.D., Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada and His
Excellency John Ralston Saul are scheduled to attend.  Her Excellency
was a member of the founding Board of Directors of Toronto Free Theatre.

Booker Prize-winner Michael Ondaatje adapted The Collected Works of
Billy The Kid for the stage from his Governor General's Award-winning
book.  The Stratford Festival presented the world premiere production at
its Third Stage in July, 1973 and, most recently, Billy The Kid was
produced at the La Jolla Playhouse in 2001, where Des McAnuff is the
two-time Tony Award-winning (for directing Big River and The Who's
Tommy) Artistic Director.

Ondaatje's many books include "In The Skin of a Lion," "Coming Through
Slaughter" and "The English Patient," which has been translated into 32
languages and adapted for a film that won nine Academy Awards

The reading will take place on Sunday, November 17, 2002 at 8 p.m. at
CanStage's Berkeley Street Theatre, 26 Berkeley Street.  Tickets are
$100.00 and include a post-Reading reception.  All proceeds will benefit
the Actors' Fund of Canada.  To purchase tickets, please call the
