Position Overview:
Arts Etobicoke and the Etobicoke North Youth Theatre Project Steering
Committee invites qualified individuals to apply for this exciting job
opportunity in North Etobicoke. The project will involve young people
ages 14 - 18 in the creation of a theatrical performance that is driven
by and reflective of the issues and concerns facing young people. Other
objectives of the project are to provide training in all areas of
theatre production, engage the community and develop future leadership
for the ongoing cultural development of north Etobicoke. 

Major Responsibilities:
Research and prepare a list of Theatre companies to be reviewed by the
Steering Committee in preparation for interviews.
Attend all meetings of the Steering Committee and report on the progress
of the project on a regular basis and take minutes
Assist the Steering Committee with the recruitment of volunteers
Assist the director with the hiring of all professional artists 
Co-ordinate the work of the volunteers
Liaise with the production stage manager to organize and co-ordinate all
production and rehearsal requirements and schedules 
Promote the project within the community and to the community partners
with assistance from the Steering Committee and Arts Etobicoke 
Liaise with the Steering Committee, volunteers, professional staff and
key partners in the community  
Provide administrative assistance and maintain all records of the
project. 
Secure all necessary facilities and equipment 
Handle petty cash float, disbursements and reconciliation, as required 


Key Qualifications:
Experience and a passion for working with young people
Excellent computer skills and the ability to work with Microsoft Office
and Excel to create tables, forms, flyers, mailing lists, labels, and
other related duties
Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
Excellent organizational skills
Basic knowledge of bookkeeping
Sound knowledge of and experience in theatre production 
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent interpersonal, motivational and leadership skills 
Ability to meet deadlines and achieve goals within the timeframe of the
project
Knowledge of the north Etobicoke community, its programs and services
for youth, an asset. 

Other Requirements:
Own a personal computer with internet access and printing abilities
Transportation facility for traveling to various venues
Must have flexible time to conduct work in various intensities at
various parts of the project
Required to work days, evenings and weekends

Remuneration:
Remuneration will be determined by the experience and qualifications of
the applicant.  The rate will be per day. 

This is a contract position starting January 2003 and ending May
2004.The successful applicant will be hired for 100 days work,
distributed over this period as dictated by the demands of the project.
There will be part time hours logged initially, increasing to full time
hours close to the final production. There is a possibility that the job
will be extended to two years. 

Note:  This position is offered pending confirmation of funding support.
