AUDITION: TEENAGE GIRL DIARIES: TORONTO

THEATRE AUDITION NOTICE - Four (4) Female Performers Needed To Play four
17-year old teenage girls.

The Great Hailey Presents is auditioning for their production of THE
TEENAGE GIRL DIARIES by Jay Teitel. It will be directed by Rebecca
Brown (richardthesecond, Moon Stories, Seder) and produced by Derrick
Chua (Poochwater, Top Gun! The Musical, Little Dragon, Snappy Tales).

The engagement will be from Monday, March 3, 2003 until April 13, 2003.
Teenage Girl Diaries begins previewing at the Factory Studio Theatre,
125 Bathurst Street, Toronto, on March 26, 2003.

This will be an Equity production and salary will be scale as set out in
the Independent Theatre Agreement for the Factory Studio Theatre ("G"
House). Teenage Girl Diaries intends to apply to Equity to produce the
show under the Independent Artists ("Indie") Project Policy.

We require four (4) female performers.
The Characters: All four girls are 17 years old.

Character Breakdowns:

The "Three Sisters" (who aren't really sisters, and don't have any; what
they are, are three teenaged best friends who've been together as a
group and who've "shared" their diaries every day since Grade Six):

Carrie: Tall and beautiful on the elegant side, the publicly
acknowledged "star" and apparent leader of the group, beautiful,
popular, socially adept and smart in an uncomplicated but worldly way
that precludes the possibility of any mystery but the skin-deep.
Carrie's secrets are conventionally perverse. Lately, she's been
progressively more embarrassed and discomfited by the lesser Sisters.
Charged with ushering the new girl through her first day at Safe Arbor
High.

Mila: The pretty, perky, and apparently ditzy third of the Three
Sisters, the Valley Girl with a heart of gold. Has an unerring ability
to hit on the truth with her lamebrained comments and instinct that's a
bit too accurate to be the bimbo-ish accident it appears to be. Deeper
than her friend Carrie, we suspect. Her secrets are a continual
surprise.

Doreen: The plain Jane "brain" of the trio. Doreen has an encyclopedic
knowledge of virtually everything, but it's her interest in things
that's most striking. Almost anything is excusable as far as Doreen's
concerned, as long as it's interesting. She and Mila share a special
bond within the friendship of the sisters that the putative leader,
Carrie, is pretty much oblivious to. Doreen's secret lies in her
fascination with the secrets of everyone else.

The New Girl (who also claims she doesn't have a sister):
Roberta: Wild, rebellious, profane, funny, and from all appearances
hell-bent on destruction, Roberta has a plan. We just don't know what
it is. Roberta also has a genuine secret that is more than just
unconventional: it's dangerous. Murder is involved, and the elusive
idea of "surcease". She's a carelessly breath-taking, ineffably
restless, wild-looking girl.

Please note that these roles are NOT race-specific. Minority applicants
are encouraged to apply.

Auditions will take place on Tuesday, October 15, 2002 from 10:00 am to
7:00 pm at The Space (489 Dupont west of Bathurst). Auditions are by
appointment only.

Please send performers' photo and resume by Monday, October 7 at 4:00 pm
