SEEKING GENERAL MANAGER

4-TIME STERLING-NOMINATED Sound and Fury Theatre seeks an organized, 
articulate, and professional individual for the position of General
Manager, 
2002-2003 Season.  This is a collaborative position, requiring a minimum

time commitment of five (5) hours per week.

Sound and Fury Theatre has been operating since 1995, and is now
entering 
its third full season of professional theatre work in Edmonton. Sound
and 
Fury is sustained by a working board of nine dedicated theatre artists
and 
patrons, with the creative leadership of Artistic Director Scott
Sharplin.

Position Responsibilities include:

" Oversee and ensure completion of administrative aspects of the
society; " 
Preparation of contracts and maintenance of Society databases; "
Monitoring 
of box office and concession sales; " Collaboration with Artistic
Director 
and Treasurer to propose season projects and events; " Assist in 
fund-raising via grants, sponsorships, season subscriptions, and ad
sales; " 
Assist the Treasurer in maintaining accurate financial databases; "
Assist 
the Board to implement season and per-project marketing and publicity; "

Monthly and Annual reporting of all administrative, financial and
marketing 
tasks completed.

Candidates should possess the following skills / attributes:

" Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; " Basic knowledge
of 
Theatre and Arts organizations in Edmonton; " Unquestionable commitment
to 
completion of tasks, including ability to organize and delegate; " 
Intermediate ability with current office computer software, email and
the 
internet; " Experience with (or willingness to learn) marketing related 
software (such as MS Publisher and Adobe PhotoShop), including basic 
understanding of visual layout for Marketing; " Pride in being a chief 
advocate and point of contact for interested parties.

**An ideal position for a graduate or senior student from a Theatre,
Arts 
Administration or Business-related program. (Experience in theatre is a 
definite asset, but not a requirement.)

Remuneration shall be on a per-production basis with a final honorarium
at 
the end of contract.
