                  SCHEDULING MANAGER

Reporting to the Music Administrator and working closely with all
members of the Music, Artistic and Production Departments, the
Scheduling Manager will be responsible for building the rehearsal
schedules for all Canadian Opera Company productions as well as the
Ensemble Studio activities.

Specific responsibilities include:

*     Building of the weekly company rehearsal schedule in conjunction
with the directors and conductors as well as the  music and production
staff
*     Daily maintenance and revisions of the schedule
*     Building the chorus rehearsal schedules for each season in
conjunction with the chorus master
*     Scheduling all piano tunings and piano moving required for
rehearsals and performances
*     Coordinate with the Public Relations department arranging
interviews and photo shoots for the singers during the production period
*     Attend all music staff meetings
*     Attend all rehearsals and production meetings in the theatre
*     Schedule all auditions in conjunction with the Music department
and General Director's office
*     Coordinate all outside rentals and activities within the building
with the Building Manager
*     Work with the Education department to schedule all education
events in the COC building
*     Assist the Music Administrator in the hiring of production
assistants
*     Assist the Head Librarian with score work as required throughout
the season

The candidate should have the following qualifications:

*     Post-secondary education in the music/fine arts field
*     A knowledge of the operatic repertoire 
*     Strong organizational skills
*     Ability to interpret and apply complex collective agreements
*     Excellent people skills
*     Ability to work under time constraints
*     Computer literate - Word, Excel, Internet

This is a full-time position with benefits. Evening and weekend work is
required.
